How to transfer music from my computer to an iPhone

To download music to your iPhone, run iTunes on your computer and connect your device using the corresponding cable. Then choose a synchronization method to adapt the time you can spend selecting music to copy to your iPhone. If you have a large space on your device for all your music library, by all means download everything. If not, tell iTunes to synchronize some particular playlists or individual songs. You can use the “Sync” button or simply drag the selections to your iPhone. In any case, downloading music to your iPhone through synchronization is happily simple.

Playlists

Step 1

Select your iPhone under “Devices” in the left panel and then click on “Music” above the main panel on the right.

Step 2

Select the “Sync music” box and confirm the action if requested. Then you can transfer all the music from your iTunes library by choosing the option in the “Complete music library” box, if you wish. But if your library is very large and the storage capacity of your iPhone is limited, choose the option in the “Playlists, artists, albums and selected genres” box.

Step 3

Activate the option of the box next to each playlist, artist, album and genre that you wish to synchronize. You can also choose “Fill the free space automatically with songs”, if you wish.

Step 4

Click on “Apply” in the lower right margin of the window to synchronize your music with your iPhone according to your configuration.

Step 3

Click on “Music” under “Library” in the left pane of iTunes. All the songs in your music collection will appear, some selected, indicated by brands, and others not. Make sure that only the songs you want to transfer to your iPhone are selected. If you would like to start with a clean slate, reject all the songs simultaneously by pressing “Ctrl” and clicking on the box of any song. If you want the opposite, press “Ctrl” and click on any box once more to select all your songs.

Step 4

Select your iPhone once more under “Devices” in the left panel and in “Summary” above the right panel. Click on “Synchronize” in the lower right margin of the window to transfer only the selected music.
